Recently I moved to Miami and within the first day of being here realized people can’t drive worth a damn. Or park. I’ve seen so many close calls happen right in front of me within the last two weeks, think it's time for a dashcam.

That looks purposeful.

It’s a deadly mix of Fl orida man and old people with glaucoma (who still have their licenses). Stay safe friend.

The highways in South Florida are a perfect mix of people with 20/ 20 0 vision doing 40 in a 55 zone, combined with raving idiots doing 1 1 0 alongside them.

Odds are that driver was afraid to get any closer to that wall on the left for fear of hitting it.

Yeah I think that’s selfishness as opposed to incompetence.

If only there was a looming threat of towing for this sort of thing. Especially if this is a pay-per-use parking garage. I highly doubt he paid for two spaces.

I was told that Miami is a fun place to visit, but not necessarily to live. Is this true? Because I had a lot of fun visiting 1.5 years ago, and it’s definitely my go-to move location after I win the lottery and my wife divorces me so she can take half.

All of Dade and at least most of Broward is a good old fashioned shit show on the best of days.

When I was there I noticed y’all had no protected left turns. Combined with the massive amount of traffic on LITERALLY EVERY ROAD, I was like:

The parking garage I park in everyday boots people who intentionally take up two spots. I take a huge amount of petty pleasure reporting them.

I’ve driven through Doha, Qatar and Miami... If I had to pick between driving through either again, I’d take Doha- a t least there aren’t toll roads.

And tons of road debris. Mostly pieces of blown tractor trailer tires, but lots of other junk too.

I’ve driven in Miami once. I remember a chaotic zoo of abrupt movements and huge speed disparities. At least as bad as Detroit, and much worse than my experiences in Chicago (which is hyped up other than the gridlock , IMO).

I never found Chicago to be all that difficult, either. I have yet to experience Detroit, but it's on my list of places to see before I die.

It’s quite a place. Lots of potential, many people who love it and are genuinely trying, but huge problems along with it.
You’ll need to visit the Henry Ford museum complex, too - it’s something.

It’s a fascinating place because of the rich history, the sudden downfall and the challenges faced by a city with a small, underfunded police force with a massive, sprawling area to cover. I sure hope it sees the resurgence it deserves. It seems like wealthy types are putting money into it again and that helps. I've got a good friend I knew in Florida who grew up in Flint. He moved back there a couple of years ago to work for GM and raise a family. People from Michigan sure are proud!

That’s probably the biggest issue - the sprawl. Some really poor urban planning there for a long time, and now the problems have to be dealt with. Providing services for such a large area isn’t cheap, and Americans in general want social democracy quality benefits for libertarian prices - not going to happen. Definitely a place where a car is a necessity, which I guess makes sense given local industry.
I’d like to see it come back, too. It was once a place that the nation was proud of, rather than sorry for or mocking. Industry needs that pride again. Regarding local pride, I think there’s less of it out here than in much of the nation.
